I bought one for my bedroom for the sole purpose of having easy access to a loaded gun in a place secure from my kids and visitors. I had a little trouble at first getting it to open on the first scan but that problem went away after I reprogramed my fingerprint. It can probably be torn out of a stud wall with moderate effort but that's what you get in a wall safe. I bought two more - a second for my house and one for my office. Yes it beeps when it opens but I consider that a warning to the bad guy to start running.

OK, here's a follow-up to my previous blast. I was able to get a new battery at Battery's Plus (fully charged and ready to go) and installed it. It was tricky to install and I cut my thumb pretty deeply in the process, but it's made all the difference in the world. My safe opens with the fingerprint scan on the first try virtually every time, on the second attempt the other times. I think that my original battery must have been unable to hold a good charge. I don't know how long this new one will last, but the safe lives up to expectations with the new battery!

I thought this safe would be a great place to store my self-defense firearms for handy retrieval. NOT SO. If I heard someone in my home, they'd hear the beeping of my ATTEMPTS to get it open quickly. It usually takes several tries with my fingerprint and I often resort to typing the access code instead, all the while it's beeping signals. By then, an intruder would have heard everything and I'd be toast. The first one I bought didn't work and I ended up taking it back to the local dealer. The second one worked for about a year, and now the battery is not taking a charge, which means both the access code and fingerprint scanner don't work. The battery is not easy to get out, and I can only hope I can find a new one. Other than that, it sure looks good in my wall! I wouldn't recommend this one unless you are mechanically and technologically inclined (and won't mind taking off the nameplate to use the key.)

As a Law Enforcement Agent I ordered safe for quick access to weapon as well as for security with two curious little ones. The biometric lock if VERY sensitive, in that your finger has to be in the exact spot every time, as well as the exact pressure applied before opening. I've never opened it under a stressful situation, but it is very rare that safe opens on first try during everyday use. Also produces a loud beep every time it's opened...wife hates that when I have to leave early mornings!

Programing is a nightmare. Claims to hold up to 5 different fingerprints, but anymore than one, doesn't work and must reset.

Also, safe would not work out of box, called customer support who actually had me take safe apart and wiggle wires. Strangely enough, I did it and it began operating in that it powered up. Should have returned immediately.

The safe part is great, the biometric is joke. I'd like this safe with the keypad and trying to have SecureLogic replace my biometrics with just that. I would NOT recommend unless with keypad. Hope this helps.

This is a good safe for keeping loaded guns handy for self-defense, yet secured from children or unauthorized persons. It would also be difficult, but not impossible for a thief to steal the safe.While the fingerprint access is nice, it is very sensitive. It requires you to place your finger on the reader almost exactly as it was scanned. Once you get used to this, it works fairly consistently on the first try.One downside is if the fingerprint reader fails, access by electronic keypad requires you wait 5 seconds before entering your code.Still, I recommend this product for anyone who likes to keep a loaded gun, but needs to keep it secured.
