  Great product, just some tricky approaches needed for installation, Submitted by Tyler on 4/21/2011

They are small and easy to install. The only hiccup I had in installation was that I had to dremel a groove in two door frames in order to get both parts of the sensor to match up (a reflection on my house's construction, not the design of the sensor). Also of note, the instructions tell you to mount the large part on the fixed surface and the smaller part on the moving surface. From speaking to customer service I learned this is only because it makes it less likely that the one on the moving surface will fall off - frankly I can't imagine the several gram difference in weight is going to have a huge impact on inertia. I had to reverse the installation on my windows in order to get it to fit nicely and have had no problems.

Just purchased these from Safemart and installed Qty. 2 of these very small (0.77 cubic inches-for the unit with the battery only-magnet piece is extra volume) wireless sensors for my two roll-up Garage Doors with the GE Simon XT system. Installed the main double wide door on Group 10 for entry/exit delay, and the other sensor on Group 13 for no delay, since when we leave we use the main double wide door -- Worked first time -- Super. These sensors come with double-sided tape for both Transmitter and Magnet pieces, instruction sheet which is well-written, but if you want to screw them to wall you will need two (2) flat-head screws, otherwise all there.

These are very nice contacts. Very unobtrusive and easy to install. One consideration, like all electronic devices they are temperature/humidity sensitive. Living in a cold climate I put plastic on the windows to reduce cold infiltration. This affects these contacts by dropping the ambient temperature to near freezing and raising humidity This results in intermittent failure. These contacts must be exposed to house temperatures to work properly.
