I have been installing and self-monitoring consumer alarm systems for several years now. I have installed several box kits from Home Depot, radioshack, etc.. Before the LYNX system, manufacturers had to "dumb down" the systems to enable the average do-it-yourself consumer to install, program, and use the system. This meant that you were stuck with what was in the box, making these systems workable only for a small house or apartment.
The LYNX system is what I would call a prosumer product. If you can read and follow instructions, you can have a professional quality product without having to involve a professional. This system is inexpensive enough for anyone to use the starter kit to secure a small house or apartment. Since it uses the same wireless frequency add-on sensors as the professional systems, it can also be used to secure a 8000 square foot business. When triggered, the system will call two different phone numbers, alerting you to an alarm. It can be armed over the phone if you forget to arm it when you leave. Since it is an Ademco product (top of the line in security systems), it is actually designed to be monitored by a professional monitoring station. If I was so inclined, I could go into the security business with this system alone. I would bet that many professional security services are now using this system due to it's ease of installation and use.
Now for a word for SafeMart. I have ordered from SafeMart for many years now. Their online business is top notch. I get an immediate order verification email. Every order has been filled immediately.
