The ELK-MM447 is a Magic Module (MM443), a Recordable Voice Annunciator (MV480), and a Caddx NX Security Interface (ML8) combination, all amalgamated onto just a single printed circuit board. This device was specifically thought up to be mounted into a Caddx series Control allowing faster and more convenient use of integration and automation purposes such as the well known and liked HomeControl.
The four analog/digital inputs and four relay outputs of the ELK-MM447 have almost no restrictions whatsoever and it can be used as a stand-alone field programmable controlling unit in a myriad of multiple functions varying from timers, door controllers, simple process controllers, etc. or as a controller networked with other modules and linked up on a common RS-485 data bus. A specific device type is assigned to each data bus module and up to 31 of each type may hooked-up together. A telephone type RJ-11 connection terminal lets an X-10 Power Line Interface be added on for sending and receiving transmission signals across the AC power line. This same connection terminal can be used alternately with our Access Interface (ELK-MA290) for reading Dallas iButton ID mechanisms or Proximity cards for identification and access control purposes. Optional Temperature and Clock/Calendar modules can also be interfaced to the ELK-MM447.
The Voice Annunciator transmissions may be played back at any time by using commands issued from the controller, a personal computer, or from a variety of many other popular brands of controls and other equipment that come with an RS-232 or RS-485 serial port, in addition to being capable of transmitting ASCII strings. All message channels are recorded at the factory, but may also be custom recorded by implementing the internal microphone or computer .WAV sound files.
The MM447 is always shipped pre-programmed with the software application for the HomeControl which was specially developed as an automation application to work with Caddx NX Security Controls, and it is designed to focus in on the excellent interaction of the security system, and to automate many different tasks existing within the regular home environment. Security detectors which are already in existence, along with the control panel's arming status are implemented to activate true automation operations including the setback of heating, cooling, and lighting subsystems when the structure is not being currently occupied, voice annunciation of special occurrences, as well as the additional safety and security deterrent that automatic lighting supplies at the critical time periods of exiting and entering. To complete the application to its fullest extent you can swiftly and conveniently make an addition of a Two-Way X-10 Transceiver (PSC05) and a speaker (ELK-73). By connecting these units to a Caddx NX8, NX6, or NX4 Security Control and some X-10 modules, it's quite easily possible to have a powerful lighting control and voice messaging automation system installed and running in barely less than just one hour. With the addition of such units as the ELK-9100 to this system in order to control electric Water Heaters, energy savings are but a short step away. This unit also offers the ability of controlling many automation functions by time and day settings from implementing the clock/calendar from the Security Control.
The MM447 is set to communicate with the Security Control through the use of the ML8. There are 16 event conditions which can be easily read from the control which are all continually supervised. These events can be easily assigned to do one or more of the following applications: 1)Send off X-10 commands, 2)Turn on a scene macro, 3)Trigger a relay, 4) Or Announce a pre-recorded message. Changes in these functions can be quickly & easily completed with push-button ease and convenience from a Windows 95/98 PC by using our brand new "Application Writer" software which is included with the seperately available new ELK-MK485 Programming Kit.
The MM447 is specially designed to use exactly the same programming software as the MM443 and the MV480. The software and other miscellaneous peripheral components are all easily available within our Programming Kit (the ELK-MK485) or our Starter Development Kit (ELK-MK400). Programming is can be easily finished by way of a PC using ELK's Magic Module Development software. Programs may be conveniently written by simply using either the automatic Code Writer or the Application Writer interfaces which are made to assist you with constructing programs from a visual question list into a lower level Intermediate Code. The Intermediate Code, known as a "SIMPLE" code, is a Basic-like high level language that is designed to compile the Intermediate Code into code bytes. The code can then be downloaded from a PC to the ELK-MM447 via the data bus by using the PC's serial port as well as a RS-232 to RS-485 conversion unit (the MB485 is included in the programming kit). The code is then digitally stored in the Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory(EEProm memory). The microprocessor is set to read out of the EEProm memory and it will then execute the code via an internal operation system. Once the process of programming has been completed, the MM447 can be disconnected from the data bus or the PC can be switched off.
